I’m an award-winning science journalist and journalism professor at Carleton University based in Ottawa, Canada. I’ve written for a variety of publications including Scientific American, New Scientist, Smithsonian, Guardian, Time, Chemical & Engineering News and others.

Sarah Everts

I am the author of the critically acclaimed book, The Joy of Sweat: The Strange Science of Perspiration (Norton, 2021), which the New York Times called “crisp and lively… an entertaining and illuminating guide to the necessity and virtues of perspiration.” The Joy of Sweat was also a New York Times most anticipated book of Summer 2021, an Audie Award-winner, and on the “Best of 2021” lists for Outside Magazine and Smithsonian.

My work on the science of art conservation was included in the 2017 Best American Science and Nature Writing anthology.

I have a Master of Journalism from Carleton University, a Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from the University of Guelph.
